Edinburgh-based alt prog-gaze act Flame threads the raw edge of grunge, the ethereal textures of shoegaze, and the warmth of folk and funk into something restless and difficult to look away from.
Featured on BBC Introducing Scotland and having played some of Scotland's most iconic stages, including a headline slot at King Tut's, Flame weave a raw, unfiltered approach to painting musical scenes that draws the listener into a live space where existential questions sit at the centre and pain and uncertainty blossom into something achingly human.
With their two new singles ‘Naive’ and ‘Heat’, and their debut live EP ‘Medea In Blue’ out on 25/09/26, Flame continue to make waves, with blazing live shows and more music on the way.

Following the success of their recent single releases, Naive and Heat, the EP effortlessly opens the gate to Flame’s first live-recorded musical journey. Like Medea herself - fierce, complex, achingly human, and impossible to look away from - this body of work comprises six tracks, drawing the listener into a live space where existential questions sit at the centre of prog-gaze frame shot through with grunge, shoegaze, funk, and soft rock.
Known for weaving personal experience into universal themes through soaring, unfiltered live shows, Flame paint a scene of blossoming transformation that strikes the sweet spot between intensity and reminiscence. ‘Medea In Blue’ is the band's biggest testament yet to their artistry and energy as a live act. Amalgamating vibrant textures and powerhouse vocals, the EP is reminiscent of Porcupine Tree, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, The Cranberries, and Alice Phoebe Lou.
Carrying over the seamless fusion of alternative folk and rock from previous releases like Gravity, the EP draws directly from what makes the band captivating: a raw, unfiltered approach to painting musical scenes that holds nothing back. Recorded live in a rehearsal studio in the heart of Edinburgh, Medea In Blue thrives on the rawness and realism of a live recording, capturing the translation from emotion into music in real time.
